At Mentor & You, we believe in creating a world-class student mentoring experience where high school students (Grades 9–12) at Indus International Schools work with industry mentors to develop their ideas and initiate their startup ventures and design their future. This is part of the Life Entrepreneurship (LE) Curriculum, where students use the Design Thinking Process (DTP) to solve real-world problems.

Through this journey, innovation happens at two levels:

Innovation of Product/Startup – developing ideas through ideation, prototyping, business models, and incubation
Innovation of Self – nurturing confidence, resilience, and leadership.

What is Mentor & You and how does it work?

Mentor & You is a mentoring platform that connects Indus high school students with industry mentors for guidance, knowledge sharing, and support in their journey towards Innovation.

Mentoring can take place at any stage of the student journey - ideation, prototyping, business models, or incubation.
Sessions can be conducted online, or in some cases, mentors may visit the school to meet mentees in person (individually or in groups).
A dedicated SPOC (Single Point of Contact) from both StartupYou and Indus International School will coordinate and support all mentor–student interactions.

What are my responsibilities as a mentor?

Your role combines generic mentoring principles with the specific needs of Indus students

Provide stage-appropriate guidance (ideation, prototyping, business model development, or incubation).
Share insights from your own entrepreneurial or professional journey.
Refer additional support – any specific mentors, labs etc to support the students journey.
Help students grow in two ways: through innovation of products/startups and through innovation of self.

How do I set my availability and manage appointments?

Update your calendar in your mentor profile; appointments are auto-synced with reminders.

What is the expected time commitment?

Flexible; you set your availability and the number of sessions you can handle.

Can I mentor students outside my area of expertise?

Yes, but we encourage focusing on your core expertise for quality guidance.

How do I prepare for a mentoring session?

Review the mentee’s profile, shared materials, and set clear session goals.

How is feedback from mentees handled?

Collected post-session, shared with you privately, and used to improve platform quality.

Is mentoring paid or voluntary?

Both

How do I maintain confidentiality of mentee information?

Never share mentee details or project data outside the platform.

What should I do if a mentee misses a session?

You may reschedule or mark the session as missed; repeated no-shows can be reported to Admin.

How are disputes or issues handled?

Contact Admin; issues are addressed through mediation and policy compliance.

Can I publish my own resources on the platform?

Yes, through the 'Resources/Blogs' section, subject to Admin review.

Are there any restrictions on sharing external opportunities?

Opportunities must be relevant, ethical, and non-commercial unless pre-approved.

What if I want to stop mentoring?

We understand that commitments may change. You can deactivate your account anytime through your profile settings.

Please inform the SPOC in advance so we can ensure a smooth transition for students.
Your contributions will always be valued, and you are welcome to rejoin in the future.

What is Mentor & You and how does it work for me as a student?

It’s a platform that connects you with experienced industry mentors who guide you through your innovation journey. Sessions may be online or, in some cases, in person at school.

What is my role as a mentee?

Come prepared with your ideas, questions, or project updates.
Be open to feedback and guidance.
Respect your mentor’s time by being punctual.
Take ownership of your learning and progress.

How do I book or attend a session?

Your school’s SPOC (Single Point of Contact) and the platform will help schedule sessions. You’ll get reminders before your session.

How much time do I need to commit?

That depends on your project and mentor availability. Generally, sessions are short (40–80 mins) and scheduled based on mutual convenience.

Do I need to have a complete idea before meeting my mentor?

No. Mentors can help you at any stage – whether you are brainstorming, building a prototype, or refining a business model.

How should I prepare for a session?

Review your project notes.
Write down questions you’d like to ask.
Share any documents or updates with your mentor in advance if possible.

Can I get feedback after my session?

Yes. Feedback from mentors is shared with you directly. You may also be asked to give feedback about your mentor to help improve the platform.

Do I have to pay for mentoring?

No. As a student, this program is part of your curriculum.

What if I miss a session?

Inform your mentor or SPOC as early as possible. Repeated no-shows will be reported and may affect your future session scheduling.

What if I feel my mentor isn’t the right match for me?

Reach out to the SPOC or Admin team. They will help resolve issues or, if needed, reassign you to another mentor.

Can I share my project work outside Mentor & You?

Always check with your mentor and the SPOC before sharing project details outside the program. Confidentiality and respect for team efforts are important.

What if I want to stop participating in the program?

Please inform your SPOC. We encourage you to complete your journey, but we understand if priorities change.
